Organisasi Papua Merdeka, OPM (Free Papua Movement) is the Umbrella Organization according to the Piagam OPM (Statute of OPM).

Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM) was founded in Manokwari in March 1965 by Permenas (Ferry) Awom, Terianus Aronggear, Johan Ariks, Lodewijk Mandatjan and Barent Mandatjan.

The Spirit of Semangat “Tekad 15 July 1970” (Firm Will 15 July 1970) was to continue the struggle and the preparation for unilateral proclamation.

The general reorganization on 15 July 1977 changed the name of the movement to Free Papua Movement (FPM) according to the statute of OPM by Brigadier General Seth J.Rumkorem and his comrades in Markas Victoria.

Since 1 December 1991, the name of FPM has changed again to Organisasi Papua Merdeka (Free Papua Movement).

Three Political Parties are Founding Members of OPM:

  • Partai Nasional, PARNA (National Party).
  • Partai Sosialist Demokrat Papua, PSDP (Papua Socialist Democratic Party).
  • Partai Demokrat Papua,PDP, previous Democratie Volks Partij /DVP (Papua Democratic Party).

The Government

The National Government of the Republic of West Papua (NGRWP) is formed by three political parties: Partai Nasional, PARNA (National Party), Partai Sosialist Demokrat Papua, PSDP (Papua Sosialist Democratic Party), Partai Demokrat Papua, PDP, previous Democratie Volks Party/DVP (Papua Democratic Party).

NGRWP in co-operation with the Free Papua Movement (OPM) continue the struggle for self-determination of the Papuan People through advocacy, diplomacy and non-violent action. The NGRWP seeks to establish and implement the right of self-determination, the country’s independence, and its international recognition.

Political representatives of the national Government the Republic of West Papua in foreign countries

As the tools of the revolution at the international level, the national Government Cabinet is obliged to destroy the enemy's propaganda-propaganda and introduces the people of Papua Struggle West. In the fight for the fight-the people, the Ministry always adhere to: "play-back" Indonesia called "the Act of Free Choice, 1969". The goals of Papua Merdeka is the embodiment of the lofty ideals embodied in Day-December 1, 1961, and hence the Indigenous People of West Papua: firmly rejects the results of "the Act of Free Choice, 1969," and answer it with the Unilateral proclamation of independence (MCC), 1 July 1971. A unilateral proclamation of independence July 1, 1971 is the Foundation and the way of the people's revolution-(people's revolution) indigenous peoples of West Papua. With the proclamation of then there is already a of the Constitution of the State of the year 1973.
